14) Application of STEP 4 (Polishing)

We have completed the sanding steps. The application exercise continues with STEP 4 polishing.

We will apply a two-stage polishing on the surface using the Dremel 2050. Polishing is applied using a foam and polishing liquid. With STEP 4, we will remove the mate from the sanding applications on the surface. We will achieve a glossy look. Polishing can be classified into coarse (STEP 4) and fine (STEP 5). In the first stage of polishing (STEP 4), the remaining mate from the sanding application is removed and the shine is revealed. During this application, the surface starts to shine, but some circular lines remain on the surface. In the last stage (STEP 5), the small lines on the surface are completely erased and a mirror surface quality is obtained.

In polishing applications, the Dremel should be used in 5000rpm (Level 1) mode. Higher speeds are not recommended. During polishing, we must be careful not to create a heat that will deform the surface. In general, the polishing steps is completed faster than the sanding steps. It is not necessary to carry out polishing work in the same place for very long periods of time. We carry out the polishing process by moving the foam and polishing liquid over the surface.
